Loyalty to places
Cannot be displaced
By childish taunts
Those living in a city
With a once roaring river
Which even armies baulked at
Now only talk of their temple
As the river remains dry
Most of the year
Inviting ridicule from modern poets
And metro upstarts
Who have only a sewer for a river
But boast of the second longest beach,
A sea which showed its viswaroopa
And is still believed to have an eye on a hillock
Quite some distance from the shore
And guarded by the cross.
