The past

I forced myself to take a walk

Where my past had taken place
And found it did not exist at all
My elderly peer did not stop
To help me find what was lost
Because he did not recognise me
The railway colony did not have
Any traces of my early life there
The row houses where I lived
Had made way for apartments
Full of new faces who knew of
Only the present taking place
I stopped a while before my school
That was headed for demolition
The old did not seem to matter at all
I looked at the dead leaves being burnt
All along the roads and bid farewell
To my past where I can never return.
